In Which Our Managing Editor Says Goodbye To Styleite

I applied to this job on a whim. Fresh off a month in South America, I had landed in New York and decided it was time to be employed. In a twist of internet fate, I found out about an opening at Styleite via a tweet from a friend of a friend of a friend. That friend of a friend of a friend ended up being my boss, and the gig transformed from a semester-long internship into a full-time job I’ve held for nearly two years.

A lot has happened during that time! I’ve interviewed Jenna Lyons and Tavi Gevinson (and Ira Glassin the same night!). I’ve sat on a stoop with Nicola Formichetti. I’ve had Olivier Theyskens almost spill the beans about Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress. I’ve written about the Jewish response to the Galliano scandal. I’ve seen some amazing fashion shows — sometimes I even got to sit in the front row. I’ve previewed Costume Institute exhibits at the Met. I’ve been to fancy Chanel parties.

But Styleite has always taken a wide approach to the industry, which means I’ve also gotten to do things like hang out with Jay-Z, rant about nose jobs, meet Madonna, go to a dog show, and write a whole lot about Kanye. I even enjoyed my very own internet mystery! That is all to say: it’s been a very, very good run. Of course, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Styleite’s awesome team, past and present — Verena, Justin, Jada, and Hilary.

So, what’s next? On Monday I’ll be joining the online team over at Teen Vogue, a magazine I have loved since it first burst onto the scene when I was a teenager. In the meantime, follow me! Drop me a line! And most importantly, thanks for reading what I’ve written these past couple of years.
